An injury-marred MTN Domestic Championship campaign means the bizhub Highveld Lions will come into the Standard Bank Pro20 with some work to do. Various exciting signs of progress along with some quality wins in the latter half of the MTN campaign is proof that the team cannot be discounted.

With speed merchants Andre Nel, Friedel de Wet, Craig Alexander, and Ettiene Gerber all on the injury list the bizhub Highveld Lions may have to find some new faces. It is in the batting however where the Lions come to the fore and with the likes of Neil McKenzie, Alviro Petersen, Vaughn Van Jaarsveld, and new kid on the block Jonathan Vandiar – there are bound to be plenty of runs going around!

Look out for a new fresh faced Lions outfit this Standard Bank Pro20 campaign as they go about setting the record straight as a team.

Coach-speak - Dave Nosworthy

This season's Standard Bank Pro20 is the second campaign for Nosworthy with the Lions since he started at Bidvest Wanderers in September 2009. The former New Zealand Canterbury coach and Titans coach has guided both outfit to Pro20 titles over the last few seasons, and it will no doubt be his plan to do the same with the bizhub Highveld Lions.

"The MTN Domestic Championship was disappointing for us as we fought hard to get ourselves back in the mix after a poor start. We as a team basically came back from the dead, only to lose a close game which meant we missed out on a semi final place. Crucial injuries to key players had a massive effect on the campaign, however this allowed us to blood a few new faces and the future looks promising. The key aim to our Standard Bank Pro20 campaign will be to compete on every front and to end in the top two. The lads are hurting from the MTN campaign – so beware the wounded animal!”
